When I heard that the first LEGO 2017 Minifigures Series was going to be based off The LEGO Batman Movie, instantly dreams of a plethora of Z-List villains and crazy Batman variants danced in my head.

I wasn’t sure if that was what we were going to get in this series, or if it was more likely to be filled with a bunch of blind-bagged repacks of preexisting characters, but it looks like TLG has gone into my dreams (all Inception-like!) and made them a reality!

lego-batman-movie-orca-minifigureI know that a lot of folks are going to find putting such a crazy mix of characters into this series to be extremely controversial, but I’m gonna come right out and say it: I love every single figure in this series. No, really.

lego-catman-minifigureFor the diehard comic book fans out there, there’s the ever-popular LEGO Catman minifigure, giving us the anti-hero Gail Simone made beloved. And for the Arkham video game series lovers, there’s even a crazy Nurse Harley Quinn minifigure!

Crazy Batman variants such as the Fairy Batman, Metal Batman and Caveman Batman minifigures are going to have huge appeal with casual fans, and I think that even non-Superhero LEGO collectors are going to want some of the more creative figures from this set such as Orca and The Eraser!

I really think that TLG is going to have their biggest CMF Series hit ever on their hands when the Batman Movie Minifigures Series hits stores this winter!

lego-61017-batman-movie-minifigures-series-2017The LEGO 61017 The Batman Movie Minifigures Series blind bags are expected to be released in January 2017, and should be available for order both online and in popular retail chains everywhere. I’ve got a hunch that this is going to be one hot minifigure series, so don’t be surprised if you have to battle some fellow superhero loves to complete your set!

Now that it’s been fully revealed, what do you think of the 61017 Batman Movie LEGO Minifigures Series, brick fans? Are you planning to go on a quest to complete this whole series, picking and choosing just your favorites, or passing on this supplementary part of the Batman Movie theme altogether?

  1. Looks Awesome! I am just a bit disappointed in not seeing a few more alternate Batman suits such as the St. Batricks, El Mariachi (maybe a bit “culturally insensitive”?), Batman Beyond?!?, and quite a few others as noted in the movie trailer breakdown. And why aren’t there any other heroes like that different suit Green Arrow included? I certainly hope they show up in future sets and/or maybe polybags.

    • Honestly, I feel like they included too many bat variants. Don’t get me wrong, I love the series and will be collecting every single one, but I much prefer the 8 villains never before seen in Lego form. I thought the Lego batman movie stuff was going to be passed by for me (save for buying figs off Bricklink) but Lego has really gone the extra mile by including all of these obscure villains. The C.M.F. series gives us 8 new villains in The Eraser, Orca, Zodiac, Mime, King Tut, Cat-Man, Calculator, and Harriet Pratt (March Hare). The sets also give us an amazing selection in Calendar, Magpie, Kite-Man, Tarantula, The Kabuki Twins, and my personal favorite, Zebra-Man (I mean come on, its a zebra man with diamagnetic powers). It could be argued that Clayface is another, but I would’ve preferred an actual minifigure variant to have been included in the set along with the brick built figure.
