Well, it’s time for me to take back the mean things that I said about the brick-built Toys R Us giraffe when I discussed his set earlier this year. Sorry Geoffrey, but there’s a new “Scariest LEGO Set Ever” in town! The LEGO 40204 Pilgrim Seasonal set for Thanksgiving has been revealed, and it’s uh… really “something”!
Unfortunately, there’s actually a set included here that needs to be built as well, and it’s downright hideous.
What we have here is a fat, brick-built pilgrim sitting on an orange stool (looking at the base, it doesn’t look shaped right to be a pumpkin at all) and eating a drumstick with his tiny disproportionate arms and claw-like hands. (Does this set vaguely remind anyone else of Uter from the Simpsons, or is it just me?)
Some people think this looks like a witch, but it definitely has that classic “pilgrim” vibe going on with the hat and plain black Puritan clothes and boots. I really don’t think that there’s any doubt of what this is so much as why TLG decided to make it.
As of now the pilgrim has only been spotted in the instructional booklet of this year’s LEGO seasonal Halloween set, but I expect the 40204 LEGO set to be officially released on October 1st 2016 and to start popping up in some stores at the end of September. He should retail for $9.99 like almost every other small seasonal set.
I’m usually pretty long-winded, but I think this LEGO Thanksgiving Pilgrim set is a good case of “If you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything”–so I’ll cut myself short (for once).
What do you think of the LEGO 40204 Pilgrim Thnksgiving Seasonal set, brick fans? Was I too harsh in my critique of the set, or are you in agreement? And is anyone planning to buy and display this set in ther home?
